We're pleased to offer the following services in our Nevada City Veterinary Clinic:
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty 5 days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has during regular office hours. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a team member can advise you on your particular emergency.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening, but you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment. Our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
For after hours emergencies please call our office. We share an on-call rotation with 8 other local veterinary clinics. If for some reason you are unable to reach anyone, or if you have a life threatening emergency, we recommend that you call Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic at 916-652-5816. They have 24 hour staff on hand to monitor your pet if a serious condition should arise. There currently is no 24 hour hospital in Nevada County, and in a situation serious enough for you to see a veterinarian after hours, your pet should not be left alone unsupervised overnight. Dr. Murphy is frequently at the clinic after hours and is happy to answer questions or see your pet for urgent care during that time, so feel free to call the clinic after hours. If staff is present the phone WILL be answered.

Dr. Susan Murphy and her staff of animal lovers are the best in this county. I have been taking my cats and dogs to her since I was blessed to find her 14 years ago. She is smart, honest , humble and has many years experience. Dr. Murphy even sheds a tear her self when she has to send one off to rainbow bridge. Your little loved one will be in good hands here.............. Marcie R.
Words cannot express my gratitude to the entire Four Paws staff. You are all truly a blessing; big shoutout to Jessica, Kevin, and Shelby for making this process so smooth for both of us....Brandon B
